Thailand
Golden temples, tropical coasts and the electric buzz of Bangkok.
Thailand blends ancient culture with effortless travel. In the north, temple-studded cities like Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai sit among misty mountains and elephant sanctuaries. In the south, limestone cliffs rise from turquoise water along the Andaman coast. Bangkok anchors it all with street food, nightlife and a rhythm all its own. It is one of the easiest and most rewarding countries to travel in Southeast Asia.
Best time to visit
Cool and dry season from November to February is ideal across most of the country. March to May is hot; June to October brings the southwest monsoon to the west coast (the Gulf coast stays drier).
Suggested length of stay
10 to 14 days for a north-and-south loop; 7 days for a focused region.
